From the first donation to the official groundbreaking, the Infirmary Project has been over a decade in the making. The new Infirmary is no longer a blueprint, as construction is well underway for Opening Day 2019.
The new infirmary will have homages to the original layout maintaining the proximity to the Farmhouse, the outdoor porch and its neighbor, the Craft Room.
However, the size and capabilities of the new Infirmary are what will make it a true modern venue for recovery. The new floor plan will feature two bathrooms, a shower, a separate treatment room, an overnight sick room, two storage closets, and a separate room for our resident Nurse. This new structure will increase speed at which our Nurses can handle patients, as well as speed up recovery times.
The Nyoda Alumnae Foundation is less than $6,000 away from fully financing this project and donations are still being accepted here.
And finally, in honor of Alice Lee Cooper who taught pill swallowing clinics on the Infirmary Porch, we made our own Council Fire poem to thank you for helping make this blueprint a reality.
The new Infirmary next to Wabansee’s Water
Soon ready for when fevers get hotter
A few more screws to drill,
To give our dear Nyoda a thrill,
And THANK YOU for all of your help with the bill!
